The Royal Kona Resort is situated in Kailua-Kona's Historic Kailua Village, overlooking the Pacific Ocean on Kailua Bay. This beach hotel offers a serene escape amidst lush gardens, featuring a private beach area and a saltwater lagoon.
The resort features 436 air-conditioned rooms, each equipped with a private lanai or balcony, a flat-screen television with cable, a refrigerator, and a coffee machine. Private bathrooms include a shower/tub combination, complimentary toiletries, and a hair dryer. Rooms are decorated in soft colors with rich wood accents, with select units offering mountain or ocean views and some featuring unique wrap-around sliding glass doors.
Dining options include Don The Beachcomber, an oceanfront restaurant serving Asian fusion cuisine made with fresh local ingredients. Waterside tables offer views, and during migrating season, guests can view humpback whales. A bar/lounge is also available, and full breakfasts are served daily from 6:30 AM to 10 AM for a fee. Guests can also experience authentic Hawaiian culture at the Voyagers of the Pacific Luau.
For relaxation and recreation, the resort offers a full-service spa with massages, body treatments, and facials, an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness center, and tennis courts.
Additional amenities include a 24-hour front desk with multilingual staff, concierge services, luggage storage, and safety deposit boxes. Business travelers can utilize conference facilities measuring 5403 square feet (502 square meters) and a computer station. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the resort. Other services include gift shops/newsstands, wedding services, a tour desk, ticket service, laundry service, and daily housekeeping. Self-parking is available for a fee, and taxi amenities are provided. Smoking is prohibited in the resort, with designated smoking zones available.
Please note: Exterior restoration work is currently taking place at the Lagoon Tower, located on the southern end of the resort property, and will continue through December 2026 (completion date subject to change). Work is conducted during business hours (9 am to 4 pm), with efforts made to minimize noise and disturbance. Guests are primarily accommodated in the Alii Tower or Bay Tower, unless they specifically book discounted "Lagoon Tower Renovation" rooms.
The resort is conveniently located, a 1-minute drive from Hulihee Palace and 6 minutes from Magic Sands Beach. Kona International Airport (KOA) is 15.3 km (9.5 mi) away. Guests can stroll to the quaint seaside village of Kailua-Kona for dining and shopping, or visit nearby attractions such as Kona Commons Shopping Center (5 minutes’ drive) and Kona Country Club (approximately 8 km / 5 mi).
